Learn to feel more content and at peace with the last time meditation

Time is the one thing that is absolutely finite. Once it is spent, you can not get it back. The truth is we often take things for granted because we don’t think about the fact that life will end. I may complain about my kids whining, or my husband leaving his dirty clothes on the ground, or the traffic being so heavy, but if I knew this was the last time I would get to be with my kids, or see my husband, or get to drive, each of those experiences would take on a whole new meaning. I would learn to be more grateful. I would learn to cherish the moments I get with people I love. I would feel grateful for my body and what it can do for me. I wouldn’t let anxiety take over.

Being aware that you are not guaranteed tomorrow, that this could be the last time you get to do something will make you a more grateful and content person. That is where the last time meditation comes in. I walk you through the last time meditation in the attached video.

During this exercise, you will be asked to meditate on what it would be like if this was your last time doing something. Notice how you feel when you consider what it would be like it this was the last time you do something, and then notice the gratitude you feel when you realize how lucky you are to have those things or those of people in your life.

Imagine sitting on the sofa with your kid just chatting about life. How much more would you treasure that time if you knew it was the last time you got to do it? Imagine making love to your partner, or eating your favorite meal or taking a walk in the park. All of these things take on new importance if you know this is the last time you get to do them. You would lean in, pay more attention, covet and cherish every moment. You would have more enjoyment and let things go that don’t really matter. You would be happier.

Trust me when I say this technique really is a game-changer if you use it.
